Hi all,
We will have a student presentation upcoming Wednesday (22.10.2023) at 2:00 pm (not 1:00 pm!).
Arekh Tiwari will be presenting his first Master thesis talk. You can find his thesis title and abstract below.
Since Arekh is writing his thesis with Katherine Kuchenbecker and her team in Stuttgart and is co-supervised by Jürgen Steimle, the session is organized as a hybrid event.
The talk will take place in building E1.1, room 4.07, and will be broadcasted through Microsoft Teams:

Title : Estimating contact forces across soft capacitive tactile sensors using machine learning
Abstract : Soft capacitive touch sensors are known for their simple design, high sensitivity, compact size and low power usage. However, precisely estimating contacts and forces on soft materials while meeting the requirements of real robotic application remains a challenge for them. To address this, we aim to develop machine learning-based software for precise real-time contact location and force sensing across the sensor's surface, enabling rapid and straightforward deployment and facilitating transferability.
Hi all,
We are excited to welcome Yi-Chi Liao who is a new post-doc in both Anna Feit's and my lab. Before, he was doing his PhD at Aalto University with Antti Oulasvirta. http://yichiliao.com/
This week Friday, at 1pm, he will give an informal presentation about his latest research in our group meeting.
Title: Biomechanical simulation and meta-Bayesian optimization for interface optimization and design
We will meet at the HCI lab kitchen on 2nd floor in bld E1.7. Feel free to join!
Juergen & Anna
